Families that were interested in getting their children on their first steps to becoming an ice hockey star of the future, accessed a free taster session at the National Ice Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The session was aimed at young players between the ages of 4-7 and the programme was specifically designed to help the youngsters get their first experience of playing this wonderful sport.
The sessions took place in the lofty surroundings of the main arena rink and Ben Wood, Luke Thomas, Jack Baveystock and Cameron Good from the Lions were all on hand to help with the coaching sessions.
Nottingham captain Thomas was clearly pleased that everybody involved got something out of the day saying;
“It was great to get involved with the new generation of hockey players, pass on some knowledge and give something back to a sport that’s given me so much over the years!”
“The kids were enthusiastic and enjoyed being on the ice alongside some of the Lions players – It was amazing to see some of the kids show a noticeable improvement after just an hour on the ice with the benefit of one on one coaching.”
Each attendee was also treated to two complimentary tickets to watch the Nottingham Lions’ top of the table clash against Deeside Dragons at the NIC last Sunday.
