Lions Reaction Widnes 25.10.15

It was Widnes Wild's night in Nottingham on Sunday evening as they beat the Lions 4-1 at the National Ice Centre.  Ten games into the season It was only the Lions second loss.  Head Coach Matt Bradbury spoke to to give his early verdict.

"It was a difficult night for the team, I thought we worked hard all night put pucks to the net and we see that with the 57 shots on target but we didn't do the simple things and follow up and get our noses dirty and play with the same intensity around the net when it mattered.

"There are a couple of goals that Hovey will want back, but there were also times when he stood tall and made some consecutive saves that looked like guaranteed goals."

"We had players that weren't sharp enough on the night and some players that's heads were clearly not in the game."

"We had a good chat in the changing room and we certainly aren't going to be pressing the panic button at this stage of the season - if you'd have asked me back in August when the fixtures came out would you take seven wins and a draw in the first ten games then that's a no brainer, its been a great start and we must build on it further."
"The players and staff deserve a break this weekend and we'll refocus, recharge the batteries, ensure no players are sat in the comfort zone and make any necessary changes to the line up to be ready for the next time we take to the ice for league action away in Coventry on 7th November."
