GB20's defeated the Lions 7-0 as part of their preprarations for December's IIHF World Championships (Div 1B) in France. Head Coach Matt Bradbury spoke to nottinghamlions.co.uk to give his early verdict and he spoke highly of the whole event.
"It's really pleasing the way we pull together as an organisation to make this game possible to support Ice Hockey UK and the Great Britain programme. I think as a junior club we can be proud to say we put Nottingham on the map."
"The game started at a very high tempo as we expected and the longer the game wore on we became more comfortable. Each period I thought we improved as we reduced the defecit of the period scores from 4 to 2, to 1 in the final period."
"I was pleased the way my team players performed in particular the 4 under 18's players, many of the players really had to step their game up and it was great to see across the board. It was nice to welcome back former players and to see them in Nottingham colours once again back to their roots where they started."
"We wish the GB20's all the best in the World Championships and look forward to seeing them representing the ice hockey nation and hope that they compete admirably."
"But for us now its back to business with an away game to Coventry on Saturday night."
