The Nottingham Lions' blue line receives further reinforcement with the re-signing of versatile defenceman Lee Holland, who becomes the third D-man to put pen to paper at the National Ice Centre for the 2014/15 season.

The tenacious 24 year-old has fought to overcome injuries in previous campaigns, with both the Lions and Kingston Jets and the former forward has 53 senior level games tallying 44 points demonstrating a flair for offence that adds flexibility to the 6ft 3’’ defenceman’s game.

Lee took the time to talk to and opened with his take on the newly expanded 36-game schedule:

"The more the merrier! - I'll play every game I'm not broken for - I like to think I get better as the season progresses and this will be a great year to do that in."

The Nottingham-born D-man also has a clear goal for the upcoming campaign, adding:

"I've actually only had one full season of senior ice hockey due to injuries and other sports - last year I came back around Christmas after nearly three years out, so I've not really had the chance to really go at a campaign from start to finish."

The new campaign will also bring other fresh challenges for the avid rower, as he went on to say:

"This will also be my first full season in defence, having always previously been a forward, so the goal is to really take ownership of that position and get better each and every game."

"I've been getting out of the boat and running a little more to get a bit quicker on my feet and I've been at the rink training with some old faces from my Nottingham junior days, so I can't wait to get stuck in!"

Coach Matt Bradbury also shared his feelings on the potential of his latest blue line acquisition and said:

"Lee joined us last season and took a bit of time to get back into the swing of things - we saw some definite glimpses from him of what is to come for the forthcoming campaign - he's big, strong, really steadies the back line and he compliments the other defenceman within the team."

"As with all the players we always expect more and I'm confident Lee will deliver even more this season on the ice."

The season opener is now just 19 days away and with more signing news imminent, make sure you keep checking for all the latest on the Lions pride's pre-season preparations!
