The Nottingham Lions will be looking to end an unwanted run of five straight defeats, as they travel to North Wales to face the Deeside Dragons at Deeside Leisure Centre, on Sunday evening (6.45pm).

Defeat will almost certainly end any faint hopes the Lions still may have had of making the play offs, whilst a victory could put them back in the race for a top four finish, with four teams, including the Dragons, still battling it out for the one remaining post-season spot.

Widnes are hot favourites to claim the final play off place, currently sitting pretty in fourth position with twenty-eight points. Hull are three points behind in fifth, whilst one point separates Deeside in sixth, on twenty-four points and Nottingham in seventh, on twenty-three. All teams have played twenty-eight games, apart from the Jets, who have a game in hand over all three rivals.

The Dragons currently lead the four-game head-to-head series 2-1 but with the Lions leading 10-8 on goals scored, Matt Bradbury's side know that any victory would see them win the best of four, whilst anything other than two points would see Deeside finish above Nottingham, if the two teams are level on points at the end of the regular season.

Two narrow losses earlier in the campaign saw the Lions lose vital ground on the Dragons. A 4-2 defeat at the National Ice Centre on the 2nd November followed by a 3-1 decision in Wales seven days later, left Nottingham reeling.

However Bradbury's side bounced back in style, in their first game of 2015, as they comfortably saw out a 7-1 beating of Deeside at the NIC.

Having all missed out on last weekend's 4-1 home loss to the Solihull Barons, coach Bradbury will be hoping for the return of experienced seniors Slawomir Kasprzak, Ben Foster-Wilson, Stuart Parker, Christy Johnson-Brown and Lee Holland.

Don't forget that if you can't make the trip to roar on the boys on Sunday, you can keep yourself updated with all the action as it happens, by following the Lions' official Twitter feed.
