The Lions face two tough road trips this weekend as they look to pick up their first points of 2012.

First up this evening are fellow strugglers Coventry Blaze. Both sides currently sit neck and neck near the foot of the ENL Division 1 North table, both having played 22 games and collected 15 points.

In what is bound to be a tense but equally exciting encounter, both camps know that a defeat would leave them in precarious position in the standings and the loss of the two points on offer could be vital come March and the end of the regular season.

Nottingham have already beaten the Blaze at the Skydome this season, coming away with a 4-1 win back in September but Coventry evened things out back at the NIC a few weeks later grabbing a 3-1 victory.

Face-Off at the Coventry Skydome is at 5pm.

Next-up on Sunday, the Lions travel to the Blackburn Ice Arena to take on the Hawks.

The North-West side currently sit in mid-table having endured a mixed season so far, although they will be boosted by last Sunday’s 3-1 home win over leaders Billingham and the return of Finnish forward Sami Narkia after returning to the UK from his festive break.

Nottingham will be hoping for an improvement on their last visit to Lancashire, which saw them start slowly, conceding three unanswered goals in the first period, eventually loosing by a 6-2 scoreline.

Face-Off at Blackburn Ice Arena is at 5.45pm.
