The Nottingham Lions are please to announce that imposing, 6'1" 322lb defenceman Ben Foster-Wilson, has been retained for the upcoming 2014/15 season.

The 27 year-old, former Nottingham junior, made twenty-four appearances for the Lions between 2005 and 2008 before moving on to play for Sutton Sting and Sheffield Scimitars between 2009 and 2011.

Ben then rejoined the Lions in January this year, after taking some time out of the game, to focus on his family and concentrate on his studies.

The Nottingham-born enforcer was probably best remembered last season, for his heavyweight clash with Solihull's Perry Doyle at the National Ice Centre, which saw his skate snap beneath him before a victor could be decided. However, he did also pick up a goal against Deeside Dragons and eighteen penalty minutes in his ten, regular season appearances.

Head coach Matt Bradbury was clearly pleased to see Foster-Wilson return for the new campaign and speaking to this week, he was in no doubt about what the D-man brings to the squad, saying:

"It's great to have Ben on the ice supporting the team, he certainly knows his role with us but there should also be no reason why he shouldn't be putting up some numbers next season."

"He's been around the circuit and he'll look after his team mates when it's asked of him and it takes the pressure off many other players within the group" added Bradbury.

You can catch Foster-Wilson and co. take to the ice at Blackburn Arena on Saturday 6th September (5.45pm), when they take on the Eagles. Home duties then begin against Sheffield Senators at the NIC, on Sunday 14th September (7.30pm). Ticket details are available here.
