The lions are extremely pleased to announce the return of net minding duo Richard Griffiths and Alan Leavers

Richard Griffiths has seen his fair share of action around the country, having previously played with Durham and at Billingham through the juniors and for the Bombers. The 6”2 shot stopper was happy to put pen to paper for another season in a lions uniform.

Coach Says – “I’ve worked with “Griff” since 2007 when he was one of the back up stoppers for my GB Uni Team that played in the World Student Games in Torino. He really impressed me with his attitude, commitment and determination.  He has had some steady seasons and some outstanding games and it was a no brainer in getting him back with his wealth of experience.”

Sharing the netminding duties this year is Alan Leavers who also returns for another season. Alan has progressed through the Junior Ranks in Nottingham and has had international honours with many England and GB Teams.  His experience and knowledge will be great in the locker room and can be passed on to up and coming netminders within the Nottingham system. A familiar face around the NIC, Alan is set to have another solid year between the pipes.

Coach Says – “ “Leves” is another netminder I have known and worked with probably since the age of 16, maybe longer. He was one of my netties in 2000-01 and 2001-02 when the Lions played in the EPL.  This was a stepping stone for Alan to go onto the pro leagues playing with Coventry Blaze, the Solihull organisation and at times he dressed with the Panthers.”
