The Nottingham Lions are pleased to announce their tenth confirmed signing of the 2017/18 season, as forward Joe Aston joins the Pride from Telford Tigers.
The 20 year-old, former Telford junior, will begin his first season away from the Shropshire-based side at the National Ice Centre, as he continues his studies at Nottingham Trent University.
The Plymouth-born youngster spent time with both of the Tiger’s senior sides last season, featuring over 30 times across the EPL and EPL Play-Offs, as well as icing on 15 occasions in the NIHL Moralee Conference, picking up 4 goals and 12 assists in total.
Speaking about the qualities the promising youngster can bring to the team, Lions Head Coach Matt Bradbury said:
“Joe is the type of player that will fit nicely into our programme, he has strong stick skills and reads the game well. His experience in both leagues, having been involved in the NIHL and EPL, should benefit us as a team.
“I have good knowledge of Joe having seen him at the GB Uni Camps and I initially selected him to travel to Kazakhstan for the World Student Games. Unfortunately due to personal reasons, he was unable to compete, which was a real shame but I look forward to seeing him linking up with the rest of the team for the forthcoming season.”
