he Nottingham Lions will begin their inaugural season in the brand-new NIHL Laidler Conference with a road trip to Lancashire to face Blackburn Eagles on Saturday 7th September (5.45pm Face Off).
Matt Bradbury’s men claimed all four points available from their two visits to Blackburn Ice Arena last season, scoring twenty goals in the process and they will be hoping for more of the same this time around to get their 2013/14 season off to a positive start.
The Lions’ focus then turns to the National Ice Centre on Sunday 15th September (7.30pm Face Off) where they face Solihull Barons in what is sure to be an explosive home-opener against their fierce local rivals.
Other fixture highlights include the re-kindling of local rivalry with Coventry Blaze as they visit the NIC on Sunday 29th September and the opportunity of forming a new rivalry also arises on Sunday 13th October as the newly-formed Widnes Wild head to Lace City for the first time.
A tough trip to Solihull beckons in the Lions’ final game of the year on Sunday 22nd December, whilst 2014 begins with a tasty home tie against another old foe; Sheffield Senators on Sunday 5th January.
A tricky, away weekend, double-header awaits Nottingham in February with a trip to Hull Stingrays on Saturday 8th followed by a short drive up the M1 to Ice Sheffield the next day to face the Senators.
Positively for the Lions, the regular season ends in March with three home games in a row – Solihull and Blackburn visit the NIC on the 2nd and 16th respectively, before the Lions complete their fixtures on Sunday 30th against Hull.
